Quilt Contest Rules

The AQS Online Quilt Contest Dateline

Contest Entry

• Begins – October 6, 2008 (10:00:01 A.M. Central Time)
• Closes – October 31, 2008 (5:00:00 P.M. Central Time)

Voting

• Begins – November 3, 2008 (10:00:01 A.M. Central Time)
• Closes – November 30, 2008 (5:00:00 P.m. Central Time)

Winners announced December 15, 2008

Quilt Eligibility

1. Any maker of the quilt entry can enter a completed quilt by submitting entry blank, entry fee, confirmation copyright permission, and images of the completed work.
2. Quilt must be constructed and quilted by person(s) named on entry blank.
3. All quilts must be quilted and finished.
4. Quilt must have been finished within the last 5 years.
5. Quilts displayed in any previous AQS contest or made from precut or stamped kits are ineligible.
6. Quilts must be a single unit and not framed with wood, metal, etc.
7. Quilt must be available for display from April 7 through April 25, 2009. Winning quilts will be exhibited at the 25th Annual AQS Quilt Show & Contest April 22 – 25, 2009.
8. Incomplete, torn, or soiled quilts will not qualify for entry or exhibition.
9. It is the responsibility of the maker of the quilt entry to obtain all legal permissions for the use of copyrighted materials.
10. Quilts receiving the largest number of online votes will be the winner of the contest. AQS reserves the right to reject any entry, including those that fail to follow the quilt contest rules.
11. To enter, online:
    1. Complete and electronically-sign entry blank with correct category circled.
    2. Upload images of quilt per instructions
    3. Entry fee:
       1. AQS members $10.00 per quilt.
       2. Non-members $30.00 per quilt.

Additional Internet Rules

1. Eligibility: All contestants must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Quilt Contest void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3. Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. AQS does not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered images of the quilt.
4. All entries to the contest MUST be submitted online. AQS will not accept entries submitted through the mail.
5. Quilts will be displayed on the Web site with image, name of quilt, dimensions, technique, and entry number only. No quiltmaker names will be included during the contest.
6. By entering the contest, entrants grant the American Quilter's Society the right to publish and use submitted image in print or electronic form in the American Quilter magazine, online at www.AmericanQuilter.com; or in advertising and promotion of the present or future online quilt contests and exhibitions resulting from the contest.

Judging

1. Judging will be conducted by Web site users. Anyone may vote for the quilts. One vote per e-mail address.
2. Voting will take place between November 3, 2008, and November 30, 2008.
3. Winners will be determined by number of votes received. In the unlikely event of a tie vote, winner will be determined by random drawing.
